No. 23 Blue Jays keep flying, roll past Moravian

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team got it done any way it wanted to on Saturday in a 94-72 win over Moravian in Landmark Conference action. The Blue Jays shot over 50 percent for the game and tied a season-best with seven three-pointers in the game as they ran away with their 12th straight win. Summer McNulty had a game-high 20 points while DaniRae Renno notched a double-double for Etown.

After Cyleigh Wilson hit the first shot of the game, a three from the right wing, the rest of the eight field goals for No. 23 Elizabethtown (12-0, 2-0 LC) were all in the paint. The Jays dominated the paint for the game, outscoring the Greyhounds 56-34 in the painted area. Etown led 22-18 after one quarter.

It took Moravian (7-6, 0-2 LC) nearly three minutes of the second quarter to score their first points, and by that time, Elizabethtown's lead had grown to double digits. Lindsay Boyd knocked down a three from the left side that made it 34-18 with 7:47 left before the half. The four prior makes were all layups, two from Jessica King and two from Boyd.

The Greyhounds were able to cut it to 11 with 5:38 to go in the second, but they wouldn't come any closer than that. Wilson hit back-to-back three pointers for the Jays. Renno, Kaeli Romanowski, and Taylor Huyck each hit layups on three straight possessions as they teetered with a 20-point advantage. McNulty's jumper with four seconds before the buzzer sounded did in fact make it 20 by the half, 53-33, to close out a quarter where Etown outscored Moravian 31-15.

Renno continued her relentless work down low, first with her and-one early in the third quarter. On the following possession, she grabbed the offensive rebound and went back up for two. Renno had six offensive boards to go along with nine defensive rebounds for a game and career-high 15. It was her third double-double of the season.

Etown's aggressiveness also led to 18 foul shots attempts, hitting on 13 of them, including a team-best six made from McNulty. Cass Peris finished off the third with yet another layup for the Jays, taking the baseline out of bounds pass from Huyck with just a second to go and connecting to gift Etown a 22-point lead heading into the fourth.

Ellie Fasick began the fourth-quarter scoring for the Blue Jays. Romanowski drove and dished as the freshman pair hooked up for the bucket. Less than a minute later, Wilson knocked down another of her game-high four threes, which tied a season-high for the junior. McNulty also hit both of her threes in the fourth quarter.

Allyia Kennedy and Georgia Panopoulos wrapped up the scoring for Etown as the game neared its end. Panopoulos beat the fourth-quarter buzzer to put the final touch on the 22-point win for the Jays.

Joining McNulty and Renno in double figures were Wilson with 14 and King with 10. Huyck had a team-high five assists while Boyd finished with a team-best three steals.

The women's basketball team will head to Juniata on Wednesday, January 11 for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Eagles.
