ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team dropped their first Landmark Conference game of the season against visiting Moravian, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays fell, 64-51 after outscoring the Greyhounds, 33-29 in the second half.
With the loss Etown falls to 7-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play while Moravian moves to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
To start the first half, the game was close as
Jalin Robinson grabbed a steal for a fast break in the paint which tied the game, at 14:44. The Greyhounds began to pull away as they lead by eight points just three minutes later. A Moravian layup extended the Greyhounds lead by double-digits, 23-12.
Malik Hudges then hit a jumper, breaking the Greyhounds, 6-0 run.
Austin Finarelli and
Rance Russo each added two as Moravian led, 32-18. With 48 seconds remaining in the first half, the Greyhounds sunk a three, leading 35-18 going into the locker room.
Elizabethtown came into the second half gaining momentum going on a 8-0 run with contributions from Hudges and Finarelli. A three from Robinson brought the Blue Jays within 13 of Moravian at 12:28. The teams traded points for a while as Moravian went up by 20-points. Etown fought back going on a 6-0 run after two Russo free throws. Elizabethtown couldn't bring Moravian's lead to single digits in the final five minutes and ultimately fell, 64-51.
Russo led the team with 21 points and nine rebounds as he went 8-8 in free throws. Finarelli totaled 11 points while Hudges added eight points from the bench. Hudges had a season-high eight points.
Elizabethtown shot a season low .284 from the field and 24 points came from the bench.
