River Hawks Clip Blue Jays

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team dropped a tightly contested Landmark Conference game vs. Susquehanna, Saturday where the lead changed 16 times throughout the game. The Blue Jays fell, 66-62. 

Susquehanna opened up the shooting just seconds into the first half with two made jumpers. The game was tight early as Etown trailed by two following a Rance Russo layup. Russo banked a three before Austin Finarelli dropped in a layup, giving the Blue Jays a one-point lead at 9:19. Throughout the first half the teams traded points, with just over five minutes remaining the River Hawks led, 21-19 after a free-throw. Reese Ziegler sunk a three-pointer tying up the game at 23-23. After two made Susquehanna jumpers, Etown regained the lead following two three's from Finarelli and one from Niko Georgelis. Elizabethtown went into the locker up, 34-31 at the half. 

The second half started the same as the team went back and forth. After Susquehanna tied up the game, 40-40 a jumper from Russo gave Elizabethtown the lead, five minutes into play. About midway through the second half, Etown held their largest lead of the game by four points. A three from Georgelis at 8:07 kept a Blue Jay lead, 52-49. With two minutes remaining, the River Hawks took over the lead by one point. With 30 seconds remaining Susquehanna led by four points following a three-pointer. Finarelli dropped in a three wih just 18 seconds left giving Etown a one-point lead. Three made free-throws from Susquehanna sealed their, 66-62 win over Elizabethtown. 

Russo led the team with 18 points and five rebounds. Finarelli added 16 points from the bench as he made 3-4 three-pointers. Jalin Robinson totaled ten points while Georgelis recorded eight as he went 3-4 in three-pointers. The Blue Jays shot 50.0% from the three-point arch making eight three's. 

Elizabethtown will face Juniata for the second time this season on Wednesday, February 1st at 7PM.
