Three Blue Jays Record Double-Digits in Loss at Drew

MADISON, N.J.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball moved to 2-5 in Landmark Conference play, Wednesday evening after falling to Drew, 82-71.

Elizabethtown started off with an 8-5 lead after two Dylan Rowe layups. Two three's from Jalin Robinson and one from Austin Finarelli put the Blue Jays up 17-13 at the 10:55 minute mark. Robinson hit his third three-pointer of the game in a fast break as Etown trailed by one. Drew re-took the lead after two three pointers as 6:24 remained in the first half. At the 3:36 minute mark, Robinson sunk his fourth three of the night with the Blue Jays trailing by ten. Two free-throws by Rance Russo and another three from Robinson cut the Rangers lead by six points as Drew led, 46-37 at halftime. 

Tyreke Herbert and Rowe started off the shooting in the second half for the Blue Jays as they each made a layup. Russo put up four points to bring Etown back within eight points of the Rangers. Etown kept fighting as a made free-throw from Reese Ziegler brought the score to 56-51 with Etown trailing by five. Shortly after, Drew went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead once again by 12 points. The Rangers kept pulling away as they held a steady lead by 12 following a layup at the 7:45 minute mark. With six minutes remaining, Herbert added a layup to bring the Rangers lead back down to a single digit. Rowe hit two layups in a row with two minutes remaining and Drew leading, 72-65. Russo sunk a three before Drew made four free-throws and a layup ending the game, 82-71. 

Robinson recorded a season-high 20 points from the bench and tied a career-high five three pointers. Robinson accounted for five of the seven Blue Jays three's made. Rowe recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Russo added 14 points and four rebounds. Etown shot 42.3% from the field and 38.9% from the three-point arch. The Blue Jays totaled 30 points from the bench, with 20 of them coming from Robinson. Drew totaled 23 points off turnovers to Etown's five points off turnovers. 

Elizabethtown returns home this Saturday, January 28th at 4 PM as they host Susquehanna in double header Landmark action.
