OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- 11 wins, all by double digits for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team as they used high-scoring second and third quarters to blow out Stevenson Monday night, 86-62.
DaniRae Renno was a force inside to the tune of a game-high 20 points.
Summer McNulty and
Lindsay Boyd were also in double figures as the Blue Jays improved to 11-0.
Stevenson (3-8) hung close in the first quarter, only trailing by a point to the Jays through 10 minutes. The second quarter is where Elizabethtown (11-0) established itself and took control of the contest.
Taylor Huyck's layup right off the bat gave the Jays a quick start to the second.
Cass Peris and Renno added layups to push their lead to seven. The Mustangs were able to get within one, but Etown proved to be too much in the paint.
Cyleigh Wilson drilled a three before four consecutive baskets in the paint to end the half.
The Blue Jays led 45-34 at the break. Renno had 10 at the half for EC.
By the midway point of the third, the advantage had bloomed to over 20 after Huyck's three from the wing. From there, Stevenson didn't get their deficit to less than 20 as the Blue Jays were running away with the game at this point.
Elizabethtown was also 18-for-21 at the foul line, with four players hit all their attempts, including a team-best 5-for-5 by
Kaeli Romanowski. She was one of three players that finished a point shy of double digits. Wilson and Huyck also added nine apiece.
The Blue Jays were able to get to the rim at will, either finishing with layups or knocking down shots from the foul line.
The women's basketball team continues its impressive start, remaining unbeaten through 11 games. Etown will host Moravian on Saturday, January 7, at 2 p.m.
