OWINGS MILLS, Md.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Stevenson University who is receiving votes in the latest AVCA DIII Coaches Poll, Thursday evening.
The Mustangs held the lead throughout the opening frame with Elizabethtown trailing close behind. Stevenson jumped to an 8-4 lead to start after three consecutive kills.
Gianna Krinock then responded with two kills of her own to cut the lead, 8-6. Etown would keep close as the two traded points. Two Mustang errors brought the Blue Jays within two, 19-17. Stevenson kept up with their momentum taking four of the final five points winning set one, 25-20.
Stevenson jumped out to an early, 4-0 lead on Elizabethtown following two kills.
Emma Bitner halted the momentum as she smacked down one for the Blue Jays until the Mustangs would go on a 6-0 run. Kills from
Georgianna Kahley and
Bryanna Miller brought the score to 14-4, Stevenson. Stevenson rattled off five straight points extending their lead, 23-9. Etown snuck in two final points on a service error and a kill from
Gracie Britten but ultimately dropping set two, 25-11.
Elizabethtown fought back in set three as they took a 4-1 lead as Miller and Kahley traded kills. The Mustangs added in a point before Etown was able to go on a three point run to lead, 7-2. The Blue Jays lead was short-live however as Stevenson tallied the next six points, taking a one-point lead. Etown tied things up with a Stevenson attack error but the Mustangs would once again go on a run to extend their lead, 14-8. A big block by

Savannah Lesley brought the Jays within four of the Mustangs. The Mustangs finished off the set with a four-point run to win, 25-19 in set three.
Krinock led the Blue Jays with nine kills (.333) and seven digs while Miller added eight kills.
Kambrie Hepler dished out 13 digs and added the lone service ace for Etown. Elizabethtown was held to a season low .094 hitting percentage and 29 kills.
Elizabethtown will open up Landmark Conference play this Saturday as they compete in a quad-match at Goucher. The Blue Jays will face Scranton and Moravian at 1:30 PM and 4 PM.
