LANCASTER, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-23) victory over Lancaster Bible in a mid-week non-conference matchup.
Set one saw the two teams trade points until Elizabethtown took a 12-7 lead following a service ace from
Emma Bitner and kills from
Georgianna Kahley and
Gianna Krinock. Two Etown errors brought Lancaster Bible within five until the Blue Jays smacked down three kills. A kill from
Bryanna Miller sandwiched between two Kahley kills put the Blue Jays up 16-9. Four consecutive points near the end of the set secured Etown's 25-15 win.
To start set two, Elizabethtown leaped to an 8-3 lead after the team recorded five points in a row. A kill from Miller and a service ace from
Kambrie Hepler plus three Charger errors put the Jays on top. The Chargers put down a kill before Etown added four more consecutive points. Jena Minick sent over two service aces extending the Blue Jays lead, 13-4. Lancaster Bible then added three points of their own before trading points with Elizabethtown. To close out set two, the Blue Jays ran away with the final seven points winning, 25-12.
Lancaster Bible had a strong momentum in set three as they started off with a 8-3 lead. The Blue Jays then tallied the following three points with a Charger attack error between two Etown kills. The two teams kept things close staying within three. Three Charger errors gave the Blue Jays some reprieve as set three was tied, 12-12. Etown then rattled five consecutive points ended with a kill from Kahley. Through the end of the set the two went back-n-forth till Elizabethtown claimed the final two points winning, 25-23.
Miller led the team with seven kills and nine digs. Hepler led in digs with 13 while Bitner totaled 13 assists.
Gracie Britten totaled five block assists and seven digs.
Elizabethtown travels to Stevenson who is recieving votes in the latest AVCA DIII Coaches Poll this Thursday at 7 PM.
