ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team cruised two victories on Saturday as they defeated Rutgers-Camden, 3-1 and Sarah Lawrence, 3-0. The Blue Jays move to 11-2 on the season.
Against Rutgers-Camden after taking the first three points the Blue Jays tied it up after two Scarlet Raptor errors. After some back and forth, Rutgers-Camden took the lead, 10-7 following a kill. The Blue Jays tallied four consecutive points after kills from
Katie Scaggs,
Kambrie Hepler, and
Gracie Britten. Through the end of the set the teams traded points as Rutgers-Camden made it interesting tying up set one, 24-24. A kill from
Gianna Krinock and a Raptors attack error gave Etown the 27-25 win. After taking the first point in set two, Etown jumped to a 6-1 lead as
Bryanna Miller smacked down a kill sandwiched between two Raptors attack errors. The Blue Jays kept their momentum rolling as they led, 13-3 after two consecutive kills from
Savannah Lesley. Rutgers-Camden couldn't keep up as Elizabethtown rattled off five more points to extend their led by 15 points. Two kills from Miller closed out the set with a 25-12 win.
Set three saw Rutgers-Camden take an 8-3 lead following a service ace and then a Raptors attack error tied it up 8-8. The set remained close as they went back-n-forth until the Scarlet Raptors recorded the final three points winning, 25-21. Set four saw the Blue Jays take a 5-2 lead after two consecutive kills from
Georgianna Kahley. After trading points, Etown recorded four points in a row before Rutgers-Camden came within one. The Blue Jays went on a six point with four service aces from
Emma Bitner. An ace from Hepler extended the Jays lead, 23-14. A Raptors error ended the match as Etown won, 25-16 in set four.
Kahley recorded a season high 12 kills (.500) while Miller totaled 15 kills (.343) and four digs. Bitner totaled 22 assists while
Jena Minnick totaled 16.
In the second match for the Blue Jays, Etown breezed by Sarah Lawrence, 25-14, 25-12, 25-9. Elizabethtown and Sarah Lawrence traded points to start set one. The Blue Jays began to pull away after a kill from Kahley and a Gryphon attack error. The Gryphons snuck in two points before Etown went on a 6-0 run after two Hepler service aces. With a 19-11 lead, Sarah Lawrence recorded three more points before the Blue Jays tallied the final four of the set to win, 25-14. In set two Etown jumped to a 6-2 lead. After some back and forth, Elizabethtown took a ten point after kills from Hepler and
Kara Davies. Sarah Lawrence recorded one final kill before Etown closed out the set, 25-12. Set three was no different as the Blue Jays ran to a 10-4 lead following three consecutive Gryphon attack errors. Elizabethtown rattled off five more points after a kill from
Courtney Westman to lead, 15-5. The Blue Jays kept it rolling as they recorded the final six points to win, 25-9.
The Blue Jays recorded a season high 16 service aces. Kahley recorded a career high .545 hitting percentage. Eight different Blue Jays recorded kills against the Gryphons.
Angela Ouimet totaled 11 assists.
Elizabethtown ends their homestand as they travel to Lancaster Bible, Tuesday September 27th at 7:00 PM.
