Blue Jays Fall in Five to Franklin & Marshall

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team dropped their first five-set match of the season to visiting Franklin & Marshall, Wednesday evening. 

Set one began in a back-n-forth affair with Elizabethtown tying up the set, 7-7 following a kill from Gianna Krinock. Franklin & Marshall went on a five-point run after an Etown attack error. The Blue Jays then picked up the next four points making it, 15-16 after two Kambrie Hepler service aces.  After two four point runs from Etown, the Blue Jays would take set one, 25-20 after Krinock smacked down a kill. Set two started the same as the two traded points. Elizabethtown picked up three points in a row, taking a one point lead over F&M. After some more back and forth, the Blue Jays jumped ahead 17-12 after two kills from Bryanna Miller. F&M gained momentum as they retook the lead, 22-18. The Blue Jays couldn't recover from the Diplomats run and fell, 25-20 in set two. 

 Elizabethtown was slow to start set three before taking a two-point lead after kills from Miller, Georgianna Kahley, and Savannah Lesley. For the next few points the teams would go back and forth before Etown recorded the final two points of the set to win, 25-21. The Blue Jays were off to a strong start in set four, jumping ahead 6-2 following a kill from Kahley. F&M started to gain some traction to tie up the set, 8-8. After an Etown bad set, the Diplomats ran away with seven points in a row. Elizabethtown responded back with six consecutive points at 17-17. Through the end of the set both would go back-n-forth before F&M took the final three points winning, 25-21. 

In set five, Kinock knocked down a kill taking an early, 3-1 lead. Three consecutive points from F&M gave the Diplomats an, 8-6 lead for the teams to switch sides. Etown couldn't keep up as Kinock added one final kill before a Diplomats attack error for the Blue Jays final point. F&M then secured their win taking the final four points of the match winning, 15-9. 

Miller recorded a double-double for 12 kills and 11 digs. Kahley and Kinock each added ten kills while Krinock also added nine digs. Hepler tallied 21 digs and three service aces. Jena Minnick tallied a career high 24 assists while Emma Bitner added 19.  

The Blue Jays host another tri-match this Saturday, September 24th starting at 11 AM. They host Rutgers-Camden and Sarah Lawrence.
