Blue Jays Out Pace Hood and Marywood on Senior Day

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team moved to 9-1 on the season after sweeping Hood and Marywood, Saturday on senior day.

Elizabethtown women's volleyball opened their first match of the day against Hood, taking a 4-0 lead following a kill from Bryanna Miller. The teams traded points until Etown went on a 5-0 run with kills from Savannah Lesley, Katie Scaggs, and Georgianna Kahley. The Blue Jays continued their momentum extending their lead, 20-8 after five consecutive points. Two Etown service errors gave way to two Hood points. The Blue Jays finished off set one with two kills from Miller and one from Kahley.

Set two started different as Hood jumped to a 4-0 lead following a service ace. Etown then went on a 5-0 run with help from Kahley, Gracie Britten and Kambrie Hepler. After trading points, the Blue Jays kept rolling as they dished out seven consecutive points. A service ace from Lucy Stern and a kill from Lesley gave Elizabethtown a, 18-9 lead. Hood picked up another point sandwiched between six points from the Blue Jays. Etown won set two, 25-11.

Elizabethtown started out in front for set three leading, 4-0 after Miller put down two kills. A Blazer attack error gave the Blue Jays a 10-3 lead. Through the end of the set the teams traded points but Hood was unable to catch up as Etown won, 25-16.
Miller tallied 12 kills while hitting .400, Gianna Krinock totaled 15 digs while adding nine kills and Hepler added 19 digs. The Blue Jays hit .330 while Hood hit -.020.

In the second match of the day, the result was the same with Elizabethtown women's volleyball sweeping Marywood, 3-0. To start off set one there was a little back and forth before Etown took a, 9-4 lead after a Pacer attack error. Etown then put up four points in a row following a Miller ace and a kill from Lesley. Kills from Miller and Kahley brought the Jays out, 19-8. Marywood earned their final point on an Etown block error before the Blue Jays got the final three points on Pacer errors to win, 25-11.

Elizabethtown was rolling in set two as they jumped to an 11-0 lead. Marywood got two points on a service ace and a kill before the Blue Jays tallied four points in a row following an ace from Hepler. Elizabethtown rattled off seven more points extending their lead, 22-5. Closing out the set both traded points as Kara Davies and Krinock sandwiched a Pacers service error for the 25-8 win.

Set three started similar as the second with Elizabethtown taking a 7-0 lead. Marywood snuck in a point before Etown took the next three with a kill from Karlee Ray sandwiched between two from Courtney Westman. Another kill from Davies extended the Blue Jays lead, 15-4. Krinock smacked down two kills before Westman added another. Marywood tallied two final points on a service ace and a service error before Etown came out on top, 25-10.

Elizabethtown recorded a .414 hitting percentage which is there highest as a team so far this season. The Blue Jays also totaled 12 service aces in the win. Miller recorded 12 kills while hitting .667. Krinock totaled 14 digs while Hepler tallied 11. Westman also added 10 kills while hitting .588.

Elizabethtown will host Franklin and Marshall on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 PM.
