AMBLER, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College baseball team dropped its opening game of the NCAA Diviison III Ambler Regional, following to Oswego State, 8-2, Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 22-10, while the Lakers improve to 30-10.

Justin Wetzel each finished with a hit for Etown. Seniors
Tyler McGonigle and
Joey Thomas accounted for the Blue Jays' two runs scored.Â
The Oswego State offense was paced by senior Paul Tammaro, going 3-5 with a home run, a double, three runs scored, and three RBI.
Etown jumped out to an early lead as McGonigle led off the game with a walk. Graduate student
Andrew Fisher then bunted McGonigle over to second before a fly ball by Watson moved him to third. McGonigle then took advantage of a wild pitch to score the game's opening run and give the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead.
The Lakers immediately answered back with two-run home runs in the bottom of the first and second for the 4-1 advantage. Things then came to a grinding halt in the top of the third as play was suspended for nearly two and a half hours due to lightning.Â
After the delay, Etown found its second run of the game similarly to it first. With the bases loaded and two outs, Wetzel came around to score from third after a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Oswego State would take control of the game from this point forward, scoring four unanswered runs and holding the Blue Jays to two more hits, for the 8-2 victory.
Graduate Student
Tyler Dunbar (5-6) took the loss, allowing four runs, on four hits, and striking out four over the first two innings. Dunbar was lifted after the long delay.
Senior Thomas Pecchia (5-0) earned the win in relief for the Laker, scattering three hits and striking out five over the final seven innings.
Elizabethtown is right back to it tomorrow morning against Husson. Opening pitch is set for 8:30 a.m.
