Cressman Sets Assists Record in Blue Jays Dominating Victory Over Eagles

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Junior Hannah Cressman set the single-game program record for assists as the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team topped Eastern, 19-5, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-13 overall, while the Eagles fall to 1-14 on the season.

Cressman tallied a career-high 11 assists to break the school record of 10 set by Katie Thompson in 2018. The junior finished with a game-high 12 points, adding a goal to her tally, which is also third most in program history. Senior Kate Zeigler tied her career-high with eight goals, while freshman Megan Gress finished with a season-high four goals and seven points. Sophomore Sam Deiaco.

Freshman Cecelia Wilson led Easter with a game-high two goals. 

Etown snatched the momentum immediately in the first quarter, running out to an 8-0 victory capped off by Deiaco's first of the game with two minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Blue Jays added goals from Gress, Ziegler, senior Alexis Patterson, and junior Brennan Tates in the second period to make the halftime score 12-0.

Elizabethtown continued to press in the third quarter, pushing its lead to 16-0 before the Eagles found their first goal of the game with 5:25 remaining in the period. Both teams scored one more goal to make the score 17-2 heading into the fourth. The Blue Jays would add two more in the final period for its largest victory of the season 19-5. 

Freshman Alayna Trynosky (2-11) earned the victory, allowing zero goals and making five saves. Classmate Rachel Murphy played the other 30 minutes, making four saves and allowing five goals.

Freshman Kelly Steenstra (1-14) took the loss, allowing 19 goals and making six saves.

Elizabethtown closes out the season on Saturday, April 30 at Goucher. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
