Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Ziegler, Cressman achieve career milestones for women's lacrosse in win at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. -- Graduate student Kate Ziegler and junior Hannah Cressman both became the third players in Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse program history to reach 200 goals and 100 assists, respectively. Ziegler had a game-high seven goals while Cressman turned in a game-high nine points (eight assists) in the Blue Jays' 16-11 win at Goucher. The win was the second straight to cap off the season for Etown.

Ziegler had 194 goals coming into Saturday's game and got halfway there through 30 minutes. With five minutes to go in the second quarter, Ziegler notched a hat trick as Elizabethtown (3-13, 1-6 Landmark) had a 5-3 lead. The assist, which came from Cressman, was her 100th career assist.

The Blue Jays lead by as many as four, though Goucher (2-14, 0-7 Landmark) got a goal back and trailed 7-4 at halftime.

The Gophers tied the game in the third quarter after scoring three straight goals coming out of the half. Ziegler put an end to the consecutive goal streak with her fourth of the game as she edged closer to hitting her own milestone.

Etown trailed by a goal entering the fourth, 9-8, and quickly went to work to retake the lead. Patterson registered her second of the afternoon less than two minutes in to tie the game. Deiaco completed her hat trick next to make it 10-9, then Ziegler added another, her fifth of the day, to increase the Jays' lead to two, 11-9. Goucher scored twice in a row to lock up the score at 11-11.

With under 10 minutes left in regulation, Patterson scored unassisted to push Elizabethtown back in front with her third of the game, her first career hat trick. Ziegler followed with her sixth of the contest and 200th of her career with 7:15 left to make it 13-11.

Alayna Trynosky and the Jays' defense did not allow another goal over the final 9:23 as Etown tallied three more times to make it 16-11, the final margin of victory. Fittingly, Ziegler scored the final goal of the game, the season, and her career with Elizabethtown with 3:30 to go.

Trynosky and Rachel Murphy combined to make four saves for the Blue Jays.

Ziegler closes out her career with 201 goals, third all-time, and 263 points, second all-time for the program.
