ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak to Susquehanna, sweeping the doubleheader, 7-1 and 3-2, in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.
With the two wins, the Blue Jays improve to 12-12 on the year and 6-4 in the Landmark, while the River Hawks fall to 7-13 overall and 2-2 in league play.
GAME ONE: ELIZABETHTOWN 7 SUSQUEHANNA 1
Graduate student
Tyler Dunbar finished with a career-high 11 strikeouts to lead Etown to the 7-1 win over Susquehanna in game one.
Junior
Ben Watson went 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored to pace the Blue Jays' offense. Seniors
Robbie Bertucio and
Joey Thomas each tallied a team-high two RBI.Â
Senior Adam Schreck recorded the lone RBI for the River Hawks' offense.
Etown wasted little time getting on the board as graduate studentÂ
Andrew Fisher worked his way to third to start the game. Two batters later, Bertucio singled to the shortstop to score Fisher and give the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead. Etown kept the inning going and with Bertucio on second, Watson singled to right field, plating the senior and making the score 2-0 after one.
The Blue Jays increased its lead to 5-0 before Susquehanna scored one run in the top of the eighth. Etown, however, would slam the door in the bottom of the inning as senior

AJ Bednar started the inning with singles. Freshman
RJ Agriss then moved the runners over to second and third with a sacrifice bunt, bringing Thomas up with one out. The senior then deposited a single into right center-field, scoring both runners to shut the door on Etown's 11th victory of the season, 7-1.
Dunbar (3-3) pitched eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out 11. Dunbar is third in the Landmark with 38 strikeouts. Junior
Zach Silfies pitched the a scoreless ninth, giving up one hit and striking out two.
Senior Dillan Weikel (2-3) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits and striking out four.Â
GAME TWO: ELIZABETHTOWN 3 SUSQUEHANNA 2

Nicholas Ortega and senior
Eric Sipling combined for eight strikeouts, leading Etown to the 3-2 victory in game two.
Sophomore
Garrett Schwartzbeck highlighted the Blue Jays' offense, finishing with a team-high two RBI. Agriss went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. Bertucio was a vacuum cleaner at shortstop in game two, finishing with seven assists and no errors.Â
Senior Evan Knapp recorded both of the River Hawks' RBI, going 2-3.
Leading 2-0 behind two RBI from Schwartzbeck midway through the fifth, Etown was looking for insurance. With Fisher on third base and one out, Bertucio stepped in and laced a single to center field, scoring the crucial third run.Â
Susquehanna looked to rally in the eight inning, plating two with one out. Sipling entered the game and shut the door on the rally, striking out the final two batters of the inning to make the score 3-2 heading to the ninth. Sipling and Thomas then teamed up in the top of the ninth to complete the second win of the day, as Sipling struck out the lead off batter followed by Thomas picking up two assists to complete win.
Ortega (2-4) scattered three hits over 7.1 innings, striking out five and allowing two earned runs. Sipling earned his perfect career save, pitching 1.2 perfect innings with three strikeouts.Â
Sophomore Teagan Duffie (1-3) took the loss allowing three earned runs on seven hits and striking out six.
Elizabethtown looks for its first Landmark Conference series sweep of the season tomorrow against Susquehanna. Opening pitch is set for 12 p.m.
