WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Elizabethtown College baseball team hit six home runs on its way to the 17-8 win over Catholic to take the weekend series Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 17-16 overall and 10-5 in the Landmark, while the Cardinals fall to 24-8 overall and 10-2 in league play.
Junior 
Ben Watson wrapped up dominant weekend, going 3-4 with three home runs, six RBI, and three runs scored. Senior 
Tyler McGonigle and Robbier Bertucio and freshman 
RJ Agriss each finished with a home run as well. 
Freshman Dante Pozzi, senior Peter Giombetti, senior Matt Tesoriero, and freshman Tommy Digiorgio each hit home runs for the Cardinals.
Tied at three after a three run home run by Agriss in the top of the the fifth, the Blue Jays snatched the momentum in the top of the sixth. Watson and Bertucio started things off with back-to-back jacks to start the inning to move in front 5-3. After senior 
Joey Thomas was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put Etown up 6-3, McGonigle stepped in and mashed a grand slam over the left field fence for the 10-3 advantage. Watson then finished the inning exactly the way he started, hitting a home run over the right field fence to give the Blue Jays the 11-3 lead midway through the seventh.
Etown scored six more runs in the eighth, highlighted by a grand slam from Watson, and held Catholic to five runs the rest of the way to capture the 17-8 win.
Senior 
Matt Barton (2-2) earned the win in relief, allowing three earned runs on one hit and striking out one.
Freshman Cody Bosak (1-2) took the loss in relief, allowing six earned runs on eight hits and struck out five over four innings of work.
Elizabethtown is back in action on Thursday, April 21 against #23 Shenandoah. Opening pitch is set for 4 p.m.
