Ziegler Tallies 200th Career Point in Loss to Albright

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Graduate Student Ziegler became the ninth player in program history to reach 200 career points, as the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team fell to Albright, 17-10, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Lions improve to 1-2/

Ziegler led Etown with six goals on nine shots. She now has 205 points for her career and is now ninth in program history. Junior Hannah Cressman matched Ziegler with six points of her own on one goal and five assists.

Sophomore Katelyn Patrick paced Albright with a team-high six goals.

The Blue Jays scored the first goal of the game, as freshman Megan Gress found Cressman for her first of the afternoon with 12:29 remaining in the first quarter. The Lions responded with six straight goals to take a 6-1 lead with 7:08 on the clock. Etown closed back within three (6-3) after goals by Ziegler and senior Alexis Patterson, but Albright bumped its lead back to four at 7-3 after a free-position goal by Patrick before the first intermission.

At the start of the second quarter, the Blue Jays grabbed the momentum to move within two (7-5) thanks to back-to-back goals from Ziegler. Albright, however, stopped the rally, finishing the first half on a 4-0 run to take a 11-5 advantage into the locker room.

Once again Etown was the first to strike, as Cressman connected with Ziegler to cut the deficit to 11-6 with 12:17 remaining in the third period. Albright responded again as well, scoring three straight to take a 14-6 lead into the final quarter. The Blue Jays would manage to close within six in the final period, but were unable to get any close as the Lions completed their first win of the season, 17-10.

Freshman Alayna Trynosky (1-2) matched a career-high with nine saves on 21 shots faced. Sophomore Jessica Sedor (1-1) and freshman Caelainn Morrison combined for five saves on 23 shots saved for the win.

Elizabethtown is back in action on Saturday, March 12 at McDaniel. Opening Draw is set for 12 p.m.
