CHESTER, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College men's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory over Widener Wednesday night in non-conference action.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 9-1 on the season, while the Pride fall to 2-4 overall. It is the best start through 10 games for Etown in program history.

Steve Swain hit a career-high .545 with 15 kills to lead the Blue Jays. Classmate
Cameron Krebs matched a career-high with 13 digs, while sophomore

Freshman Matthew Christ paced Widener with eight kills.
After cruising through the first set hitting .455 for the 25-9 win, Etown carried its momentum into set two. Holding a one point advantage at 6-5, the Blue Jays stretched its advantage to eight at 13-5 after a 7-0 run. freshman

Blake Hildebrand each had kills over this stretch. Widener battled back to within three (16-13) but 4-0 spurt by Etown pushed the teams advantage to 20-13 after a kill from Swain. The Blue Jays road this final offensive wave to the 25-21 victory and the 2-0 lead.
The third set looked like more of the same for the Etown as they zipped out to a 17-9 lead after an ace from Hildebrand. The Pride responded with a 5-0 rally to close within three at 17-14. However, that is as close as Widener would get as the Blue Jays closed out the 3-0 win with a 25-19 victory in the third set.
Elizabethtown hits the road to take on its first nationally ranked opponent of the season at #7 Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, February 19. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
