Blue Jays Fall to Catholic in Landmark Conference Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Elizabethtown College men's basketball game could not recover from an early deficit, falling to Catholic, 83-60, Wednesday night in Landmark Conference play.

With the loss, the Blue Jays slip to 8-15 overall and 3-10 in league play, while the Cardinals improve to 16-6 on the season and 9-4

Junior Dylan Rowe scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore Niko Georgelis came off the bench to add 10 point of his own.

Sophomore Jesse Hafemeister led all scorers with 22 points to pace Catholic.

Down by two with 13:13 left in the first half, Etown rattled off five straight points to take a 19-16 lead with just over 11 minutes on the clock behind three points from Georgelis and two from sophomore Jared Archer. The Cardinals, however, repsonded in a big way, going on a 28-5 run to end the half and take a 44-24 lead into the locker room. 

Catholic stretched its lead to as many as 31 in the second half to wrap up its 16th win of the season, 83-60.

The Blue Jays shot 33.3% (20-60) from the floor and knocked down 8-24 (33.3%) from three. The Cardinals finished the night 33-65 (50.8%) overall and shot 39.1% (9-23) from three.

Elizabethtown closes out the season on Saturday, February 19 at Susquehanna. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
