ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball picked up their second straight win, 94-80 against Valley Forge as the Blue Jays head into Landmark Conference play this weekend.
There were four lead changes throughout the game as Elizabethtown started off the first half with a 11-4 lead Five minutes into the half,
Ben Stanton added a layup giving the Blue Jays a seven-point lead. Valley Forge started chipping away at Etown's lead before
Dylan Rowe dropped in a layup, putting the Blue Jays up, 22-11. At the 7:05 minute mark, a three-pointer from the Patriots brought Valley Forge within three. With just under a minute in the first half,
Austin Finarelli sinks a three as the Jays led, 34-30. With 12 seconds remaining, Valley Forge tied it up at 34-34 following a jumper. At the buzzer, the Patriots sunk a three behind the line as they led, 37-36 at halftime.
Valley Forge started off with the lead in the second half. Following a jumper at 17:25, the Patriots led, 46-42. A Rowe layup cut Valley Forges' lead, 55-52.
Rance Russo dropped in a three before
Jalin Robinson sunk a three of this own, to lead 63-55. Less than a minute later, Russo sunk another three for Etown's biggest lead of the evening. Two Finarelli free-throws extended the Blue Jays lead by 12 points. At the 7:45 minute mark, Russo recorded another three-pointer giving Elizabethtown a 16-point; which was their largest of the game. With three minutes remaining, Valley Forge brought the Blue Jays lead back to single digits as Etown led, 83-75. With 1:29 remaining, Valley Forge recorded their final basket of the game. Etown went on to score five more points before the buzzer to win, 94-80.
Rowe led both teams with a career-high 28 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Russo recorded a season-high 26 points as he went 5-9 from the three-point line. Robinson also totaled a season-high as he picked up 15 points from the bench. Elizabethtown shot 52.5% from the floor and 66.67% just in the second half. The Blue Jays shot a season-high 52.6% from the three-point line.
Elizabethtown begins Landmark Conference play this Saturday, December 3rd at 4 PM as they travel to Susquehanna.
