ANNVILLE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team recorded their second non-conference win of the season at Lebanon Valley, Tuesday evening in a 62-60 victory.
Both halves were tightly matched as Elizabethtown went into the locker up, 34-32 at halftime. Etown's two-point margin in the first half was enough for the Blue Jays to hold on to the win as both teams tallied 28 points in the second half.
The first half started off in a back-n-forth fashion as Elizabethtown held an 8-4 lead following two layups. The Blue Jays first large lead of the half came after a layup from
Austin Finarelli. Etown extended their lead by eight points, 16-8. Midway through the half Etown pulled ahead by ten points following a
Dylan Rowe layup. With five minutes remaining in the half, a Dutchmen free throw brought them within five. At the 3:46 minute mark, Lebanon Valley tied up the game at 25-all. Through the end of the half, the teams traded points until the Blue Jays closed out on a 7-0 run to lead, 34-32 at halftime.
Elizabethtown started off the second half with momentum as Rowe put up two layups in a row. The Dutchmen kept close as at the 12:07 minute mark, Lebanon Valley came with three of Etown, 46-43. In the final seven minutes of the game neither game could lead by more than three points. A layup from
Tyreke Herbert and a jumper from
Rance Russo kept Etown with a two-point lead. The final minute was scoreless as Etown won, 62-60.
Rowe led the team with 12 points as he went 6-7 in field goals while also adding three blocks. Russo tallied a double-double for 11 points and 10 rebounds. Finarelli came off the bench with eight points, seven rebounds, and five steals. The Blue Jays shot 41.0% from the floor while Lebanon Valley shot 34.4%.
