LANCASTER, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's basketball team cruised to an 80-57 win over Lycoming in the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic at Franklin & Marshall. The Blue Jays put up 47 points in the first half.
Elizabethtown and Lycoming started off trading points mid-way through the first quarter with Etown leading, 11-7 after a layup from
Summer McNulty. At the 4:08 minute mark, Lycoming added a three before the Blue Jays closed out the quarter with a 25-10 lead. In the final four minutes of the quarter, Etown didnt allow another point from the Warriors. The Blue Jays kept rolling in the second quarter as
DaniRae Renno and
Lindsay Boyd each added a layup to extend their lead, 29-12.
Jessica King put up five consecutive points mid-way through the quarter to bring Etown's lead, 37-20. Lycoming started to get in a groove as the teams went back-n-forth but Elizabethtown went into the locker room with a 47-27 lead.
A jumper from Boyd and a layup from McNulty got the Blue Jays started in the third quarter. McNulty then sunk a three putting the Jays up by 24 points.
Cyleigh Wilson pitched in a three at the 4:36 minute mark. A jumper from Makenna Mummert and
Cass Peris brought Etown to a 70-42 lead with 1:21 left in the quarter. Lycoming ended the third quarter with a layup and the score, 72-44. The fourth quarter was scoreless until the 5:35 minute mark with a jumper from the Warriors. For the next two minutes the teams traded free throws as Elizabethtown continued to lead, 78-50. Lycoming got off a final three-pointer at the buzzer but it wasn't enough as Etown won, 80-57.
McNulty led the game with 17 points as she went 8-15 in field goals. Renno totaled 11 points while going 5-7 in field goals and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Elizabethtown will face host Franklin & Marshall at 3 PM in the Terry Greene Tip-Off Classic Championship game.
