TOWSON, Md.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team moved to 3-3 in Landmark Conference play as they soared past Goucher, 7-0 Saturday afternoon.
There were a total of six goal scorers for Etown;
Drew Bridges,
Sydney Aguilar,
Chloe Smith,
Grace Hussey,
Grace Hardy, and
Salena Paronish.
Elizabethtown was quick to start as Bridges fired off three consecutive shots in the fourth minute of play. At the 7:02 minute mark, Hussey assisted Bridges for the first Blue Jay goal. Five minutes later following a penalty corner, Smith assisted Hussey, taking a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Etown rattled off four more goals taking a 5-0 lead over the Gophers. Two minutes into the quarter, Aguilar scored her first goal of the game. At 19:44, Hussey tallied her second goal of the afternoon. After the Blue Jays continued to hold strong possession, Smith assisted Hardy in the 24th minute. Following a shot from Smith and a save by the Goucher goalie; in the 27th minute Paronish recorded her first goal of the season.
The third quarter was scoreless as the Gopher's recorded their first shot of the game in the 34th minute. Goucher tallied two penalty corners and two more shots before the end of the quarter. The Blue Jays tallied seven shots and five corners. To start the fourth quarter Etown held the ball before the Gophers held possession with two corners and a shot. In the 52nd minute, Smith scored the seventh and final goal of the game for Etown.
The Blue Jays out-shot the Gophers, 31-4. Etown also held the advantage in penalty corner, 14-4. Elizabethtown didn't allow a shot from Goucher until the third quarter.
