Blue Jays Sweep Penn St.-Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-15) win over Penn St.-Harrisburg, Tuesday evening at the Capitol Union Building. 

In set one, the Blue Jays and Lions kept things close as they traded points. Elizabethtown led, 5-4 after kills from Katie Scaggs and Bryanna Miller. Etown pulled ahead, 12-9 following kills from Gracie Britten and Gianna Krinock. Penn St.-Harrisburg quickly tied it up, 15-15 before the Blue Jays went on a 4-1 run. Four consecutive points from Etown brought the Jays within one of set point after two Britten service aces. Harrisburg added two more points before Britten smacked down the final kill to win, 25-20. 

Set two began with Elizabethtown out in front, 6-4 after two Scaggs kills sandwiched a Lions attack error. Etown kept up the momentum going on a five-point run with the help of Britten, Georgianna Kahley, and Krinock. Two kills from Scaggs extended the Blue Jays lead by eight, 19-11. Kahley brought down a kill at 24-18 before Penn St.-Harrisburg added two points. A Lions attack error gave the Blue Jays a 25-20 win in set two. 

Set three saw Etown come out with a 5-2 lead after Kahley and Krinock contributed kills. Elizabethtown rattled off five points taking a five-point lead. A kill from Krinock and a service ace from Kambrie Hepler gave the Blue Jays a 14-8 lead. Krinock and Kahley  each added a kill apiece as Etown led, 19-10. Ending set three Elizabethtown went on a 5-2 run as Savannah Lesley brought down three kills to win, 25-15. In the final set the Blue Jays hit .478 while holding Harrisburg to .138. 

Elizabethtown led with eight aces while Penn St.-Harrisburg totaled one ace. Kahley led the match with ten kills (.500) while adding three digs. Scaggs and Krinock each tallied eight kills while Krinock also totaled ten digs. 

Elizabethtown moves to 18-5 overall and  will travel to Penn St.-Altoona this Thursday at 7 PM for a non-conference match.
