Several Blue Jays Record Season-Highs in Loss to Penn St.-Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team recorded several season and career-high's but ultimately fell, 3-1 to the Lions, Thursday evening. 

Gianna Krinock and Bryanna Miller each recorded a double-double as Miller totaled a season-high 20 kills and 27 digs while Krinock tallied 13 and 36 digs. Krinock's 36 digs are a career-high. Georgianna Kahley tallied a season-high 17 kills and Kambrie Hepler totaled a career-high 38 digs. Emma Bitner totaled a career-high 34 assists. The Blue Jays also tied the record for team match digs with 139. 

The four-set match was closely contested as the set scores were 23-25, 25-27, 25-23, and 25-27. Set one started off in a back-n-forth fashion before Elizabethtown rattled off four points to take an 8-6 lead. Kills from Katie Scaggs, Hepler, and Krinock gave the Blue Jays the lead. Penn St.-Altoona took the lead, 12-11 after two kills. After the teams continued trading points the set was tied at 22 following a kill from Krinock. To end the set the teams traded points but the Lions took the final two points to win, 25-23. 

Penn St.-Altoona started off with the lead in set two after four consecutive points. The Blue Jays came within one at 8-9 after an attack error and a kill from Krinock. Three consecutive Blue Jay kills tied up set two, 16-16 with help from Kahley, Miller, and Courtney Westman. The Lions re-took the lead, 18-20 after a kill. At set point for the Lions, the Blue Jays went on a 3-0 run to come with one of Altoona. After back and forth, Penn St.-Altoona again recorded the final two points winning, 27-25. 

Set three saw Etown jump to an early, 5-2 lead. Their lead was short-lived as the Lions took over for a 10-8 lead after three kills in a row. Penn St.-Altoona extended their lead to 16-13 after two Etown attack errors. Following an Elizabethtown timeout, a kill from Kahley and an attack error kept the Blue Jays within three. Two kills from Miller tied up the set, 23-23. A Lion attack error and a kill from Scaggs sealed Elizabethtown's, 25-23 win. 

In set four Elizabethtown catapulted to a 7-0 lead. Following a Lions attack error, Altoona rattled off eight consecutive points bringing the score, 11-12. Throughout the end of the set the teams traded points until they were locked at 24-24 and then 25-25. Penn St.-Altoona recorded a kill and Etown committed an attack error ending the match, 27-25. 

Elizabethtown will travel to Misericordia Saturday for their final non-conference tri-match of the season. Etown will face Misericordia at 12 PM and then take on McDaniel at 2 PM.
