CHAMBERSBURG, Pa, - Junior
Gianna Krinock had a match-high 10 kills as the Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team topped Wilson, 3-0, in non-conference action.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 6-4 on the season, While Wilson falls to 0-4 overall.
Krinock hit .292 to go along with their 10 kills. Senior
Rileigh Hudock had a match-high 10 assists and sophomore
Kambrie Hepler tallied nine digs.
In the opening set, Etown ran out to a 15-5 lead capped off by an ace from sophomore
Katie Scaggs and back-to-back kills from freshman
Lily Johnson and sophomore
Georgianna Kahley.
The Blue Jays did not allow the Phoenix to find any momentum and took the first stanza 25-11.
Wilson battled back in the second and grabbed an early three-point advantage (10-7) in the second set.
Etown responded emphatically, going on a 15-3 run to take back complete control of the frame. Freshman
Karlee Ray tallied five kills over this stretch. The Blue Jays road the rally to a 2-0 lead with 25-17 win in the second.
Elizabethtown completed its five straight-set victory of the season in the third, cruising out to a 16-9 advantage in the set. The Phoneix would never threaten as the Blue Jays completed their sixth win of the season with a 25-14 victory in the final stanza.
Elizabethtown returns to Thompson on Saturday, September 25 for its first tri-match of the season. The Blue jays will open the day against Penn State Berks at 11 a.m. followed by York at 3 p.m.
