GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team scored a split on Saturday, topping Messiah, 3-1, before falling to Rutgers-Camden, 3-2, in non-conference action.

With the split, the Blue Jays moved to 13-5 on the season. Etown has won 10 of its last 12 matches.

Sophomore Gerogianna Kahley registered back-to-back double-doubles on the day, finishing with 16 kills and 10 digs in match one and 10 kills and 13 digs in match two. Junior Bryanna Miller led the Blye Jays in match two, notching 18 kills and 15 digs.

Down 7-2 early in the opening set of match one against the Falcons, Etown erupted for 11 of the next 12 points capped off by kill from Kahley to move ahead by five (13-8)

Messiah managed to close within three in the first set (14-11) but Etown held them at bay, taking the opener 25-18.

After the Falcons evened things at one by taking the second set (25-18), the Blue Jays rebounded in the third. Tied at 14 midway through the set, Messiah attempted to separate, rattling off four consecutive points to move ahead, 18-14.

Etown snatched back momentum, scoring seven of the next eight points to go up by two (21-19). Miller and senior Ashley Snesavage both had kills over this stretch.

The Blue Jays looked prepared to close things out in the third, holding a 24-20 lead, but Messiah attempted to rally, scoring three straight points. Etown, however, collected themselves and closed out the set thanks to a kill from Kahley to go up 2-1.

Tied at 18 in the fourth, Elizabethtown put its stamp on the match, finishing the match on a 7-1 run to run its winning streak to nine matches and top Messiah 3-1.

Match two turned into the Blue Jays second five-set match of the season as they battled back from being down 2-1 to force the deciding frame. The Raptors ran out to a 6-2 lead before Kahley (1) and Miller (2) combined for three kills to close within one at 6-5.

Etown continued to battle and finally tied the set after an attack error by Rutgers-Camden made the score 9-9.

The Blue Jays then took its first lead of the fifth since 2-0 after a kill by Scaggs and an attack error by the Raptors made the score 11-10 in favor of Etown.

Rutgers-Camden however erased the deficit and scored the final five points of the match for the 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.
