SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse fell to Susquehanna, 15-10, Sunday afternoon in Landmark Conference action.
With the loss, the Blue Jays finish the regular season with a 1-7 record overall and in conference play, while the River Hawks improve to 3-3 overall and in the Landmark.
Senior Lexie Sharp tallied a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. For the second consecutive game, graduate student Jesse Sartor registered three points, scoring two goals and adding one assist. Sophomore Hannah Cressman (1 G, 1 A) and senior Kate Ziegler (2 G) rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
Susquehanna was led by junior Caroline Chase who finished with six points on five goals and one assist. Freshman Madi Mitchell (3 G), junior Katie Hoerman (2 G, 1 A), and senior Nicole Hauck (3 G) each had three points for the River Hawks.
After Susquehanna jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the opening 10 minutes of the game, the Blue Jays responded with a 3-0 run capped off by Sartor goal assisted by Sharp with 17:24 remaining in the first half.
The River Hawks tied the game at four shortly after, but Etown once again responded with another goal from Sartor and then Sharp's fourth of the game with just over four minutes remaining in the opening period.
Susquehanna managed to get one goal back before halftime and the Blue Jays took a 6-5 lead into intermission.
Etown held onto the momentum at the start of the second half, scoring the first two goals capped off by an unassisted strike from Ziegler with 25:13 remaining in the game.
The Blue Jays continued to hold a three-goal advantage with just over 18 minutes left to play on another unassisted goal by Ziegler, making the score 9-6.
The River Hawks however stole back the momentum after Ziegler's goal, finishing the game on a 9-1 run to secure its third win of the season, 15-10.
Graduate student Jennifer Beihoff (1-7) made a career-high 15 saves on 30 shots on goal.
Freshman Bea Daudelin (3-3) made 10 saves on 20 shots on goal.
