ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Kate Ziegler led the offense with a team-high four goals for the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team on Saturday in Landmark Conference action against visiting Susquehanna. In goal,
Jennifer Beihoff stopped a career-high 14 shots, but the totals each came in a 17-13 loss to the River Hawks.
The first ten goals of the game were split between the two teams as the game went back and forth.
Lexie Sharp recorded another hat trick as her first of the day was the opening score of the game just over four minutes in. Ziegler had her first of the game a few minutes later.
After Susquehanna (1-0, 1-0 Landmark) grabbed a one-goal lead on the back of Heather Riefenhauser's second of the game, Sharp netted her second a player up as
Hannah Cressman delivered the ball to the cutting senior for the score.
Midway through the first half,
Madison Morabito put Elizabethtown (0-3, 0-3 Landmark) ahead by a goal, 5-4. The next three goals belonged to the River Hawks, and from there, they would not relinquish the lead.
Jesse Sartor brought Etown back within a goal at 7-6. The Blue Jays would get within a goal again in the second half, and once again off the stick of Sartor, but Susquehanna slowly pulled away in the final ten minutes to get away with the 17-13 win.
Bea Daudelin had a big game for the River Hawks in goal, stopping 13 shots. Beihoff had a game-high 14 saves.
Cassidy Pawlicki again did a little bit of everything defensively for the Jays, grabbing four draw controls, causing a pair of turnovers, and grabbing two ground balls.
Jess Principe and Ziegler each recorded three draw controls to lead Etown. Sharp finished the day with six points in the game coming on three goals and three assists.
Elizabethtown plays at Juniata on Wednesday, March 31, at 6 p.m.
