ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Lexie Sharp scored her 100
th career goal as the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team fell to Drew, 21-8, in both teams' season opener Saturday afternoon.
Sharp finished the afternoon with a hattrick while classmate
Kate Ziegler tallied three points with two goals and one assist. In her collegiate debut, freshman
Sam Deiaco registered three points as well with two goals and an assist. Graduate student
Jesse Sartor added a goal and an assist as well.
Junior Meliha Emini scored a game-high four goals, finishing with five points for the Rangers. Senior Laura Casella netted five points as well for the visitors, recording three goals and two assists.
The Blue Jays got on the board first as sophomore
Hannah Cressman found Ziegler for her first goal of the season just under 4:30 into the game.
After Drew tied the game, Sharp netted her 100
th career goal on the second consecutive helper from Cressman, putting Etown in front 2-1 with 25:39 on the clock.
The score was knotted at two and then three before the Rangers went on a 14-1 to end the first period, making the halftime score 17-4.
Drew slowed the game down in the second half and possessed the ball, finishing off the season-opening win, 21-8.
Graduate Student
Jennifer Beihoff (0-1) started in goal for the Blue Jays, making three saves on 18 shots on goal. Senior
Kali Kishter relieved Beihoff towards the end of the first half, recording one save.
Senior Katiana Michalski (1-0) made four saves and allowed seven goals in the win. Sophomore Anna Horne played the final 10:30, tallying one save.
Before the start of the game, the Blue Jays recognized their 10 seniors: Maddie George, Rachel Molino,
Emily Garvin, Sartor, Beihoff, Kishter, Ziegler, Sharp,
Claudia Jones, and

The Blue Jays hit the road on Wednesday, March 4, as they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on the Moravian Greyhounds. The opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
