LANDMARK CONFERENCE RELEASE
"I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to represent the Landmark Conference as an Associate Member to the National SAAC," said Pilny. "I am extremely excited to have been selected to the position and look forward to beginning my new role. It is my hope that we will continue to enhance our athletic communities and provide our student-athletes with a voice that will be heard on the national scale."
The SAAC represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general. The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division's nationwide partnership with Special Olympics.
"We are tremendously proud of the opportunity that Nick has earned to represent Elizabethtown College and most importantly the Landmark Conference," said Elizabethtown College Director of Athletics,
Chris Morgan. "Over the past year and half, Nick has proven to be an outstanding student-athlete, as a teammate and a leader on and off the field and court. He will be a strong advocate on behalf of all Division III student-athletes at the national level, and I'm excited to see where this path takes him."
As a member of the Division III SAAC, Pilny joins other conference representatives to partner with the NCAA and vote on legislation regarding student-athlete welfare. The Glassboro N.J. native will serve a three-year term.
"On behalf of the entire Elizabethtown College SAAC, we'd like to share our excitement for Nick as he begins his journey to represent the Landmark as an Associate Member of the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee," said Elizabethtown SAAC advisor and head women's soccer coach
Amy Hough. "We are so proud of him and the opportunity that he has to be the voice for our conference and DIII student-athletes as a whole at the national level. We know he will do a phenomenal job in this role because of his energy and passion that we see around our campus on a daily basis. We look forward to supporting him on the road ahead."
The mission of the NCAA Division III National SAAC is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by protecting their well-being, fostering a positive image and inclusive environment, along with promoting student-athlete engagement at the national, conference and local levels.
