BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College field hockey team had the lead in the first quarter, but Moravian scored five unanswered goals the rest of the way and handed the Blue Jays a 5-1 loss Wednesday night at John Makuvek Field.
Chloe Smith scored for Etown in the loss.
Elizabethtown (6-8, 2-2 Landmark) earned a corner a little over four minutes into the first quarter and
Grace Hussey inserted to Smith, who was waiting out top. She dribbled to her right to get by a defender and unleashed a blast that proved unstoppable as it rattled the back of the cage for her second of the season to put the Blue Jays ahead 1-0.
Sarah Bietka tied the game with under four minutes to go in the opening quarter for Moravian (10-2, 3-1 Landmark). Emily Wells made it 2-0 early in the second. Then, with less than a minute to go before halftime, Ava Wells scored the first of two in the game. The Greyhounds led 3-1 at the half.
Edwards scored again in the third quarter as Moravian led 4-1 entering the fourth. Bekkah Kehoe made it 5-1 in the fourth quarter.
Elizabethtown plays at Susquehanna on Saturday, October 16, at 1 p.m.
