Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Stephan scores, field hockey falls to Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Riley Stephan produced her second goal of the season for the Elizabethtown College field hockey team Saturday against Susquehanna. Stephan's goal tied the game in the first quarter, but a third-quarter goal by the River Hawks proved to be the difference as Susquehanna went on to win, 2-1.

Ava Greene scored 7:35 into the first for Susquehanna (11-3, 3-2 Landmark) to make it 1-0 for the hosts. It only took two and a half minutes for the Blue Jays to answer thanks to Stephan.

On a restart of play on the team sideline, Grace Hussey moved the ball ahead to Sydney Aguilar. The junior took a few touches before passing up to Grace Hardy as she headed into the circle. Hardy took a shot that went on goal, off the goalie's pads, and right to an unguarded Stephan, who easily scored her second of the season to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither side scored in the second quarter as Elizabethtown (6-9, 2-3 Landmark) outshot the River Hawks 3-2 in the quarter and had a slight edge, 4-3, at halftime.

Susquehanna came out with a point to prove in the third, not allowing a shot to Etown while scoring on of their own. Sam Banks recorded her fifth of the season and the River Hawks' defense made that goal stand up as they closed the door on the Blue Jays' offense.

The field hockey team will have the week off before hosting Drew on Senior Day, Saturday, October 23, at 1 p.m. on Wolf Field.
