ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Senior
Rileigh Hudock registered her 100th career ace as the the Elizabethtown College women's swept Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday in non-conference action.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 14-5, while the Nittany Lions fall to 12-7.
Junior
Bryanna Miller finished one dig short of a double-double, finishing with 13 kills and nine digs. Junior
Courtney Westman hit .500 with six kills while sophomore
Georgianna Kahley recorded nine kills and 10 digs. Junior
Sarah Hanks dished out 35 assists and sophomore
Kambrie Hepler has a team-high 15 digs.
Holding a four point lead (15-11), Etown rattled off six of the next eight points finished off by back-to-back aces from Hudock to give her 100 for her career and put the Blue Jays up 21-13.
Penn State Harrisburg would mange to close within five late, but Etown closed it out securing the final point for the 25-19 win in the opening set.
Much like the opening frame, the Blue Jays broke open a five point advantage (12-7) with a 11-2 run capped off by a kill from senior
Shelly Yohe, putting Etown up 23-9.
The Blue Jays finished things off in the second, highlighted by a kill from sophomore
Katie Scaggs and a block from Hanks and Scaggs to take the 2-0 lead with the 25-10 victory.
Up two in the third (14-12), Etown grabbed the momentum and the match, scoring 11 of the final 13 of the set, completing the sweep with a 25-14 win in the final set.
Little rest for Elizabethtown as they turn around and host Stevenson on Thursday, October 14. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
