GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Jess Principe tied the game with 18:47 left in regulation, but from there, Arcadia outscored the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team 4-1 as the Knights went on to win 13-10 Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
Lexie Sharp led the Blue Jays with four goals.
Arcadia (2-2) got off to a 3-1 lead by the 22:24 mark of the first half as three different players recorded goals for the Knights.
The first three goals for Elizabethtown (2-2) belonged to Sharp, who had her hat trick completed 10:45 into the game.
Hannah Cressman assisted on two of the three goals, with Sharp's third tying things up at 3-3. Then,
Emily Garvin got in on goal after taking a pass from
Kate Ziegler to make it 4-3 for the Blue Jays. The Cressman-to-Sharp connection worked once more for a goal a player up as E-town extended the lead to 5-3.
The last three goals of the half belonged to Arcadia as they took a 6-5 lead into halftime.
Principe's first of the game tied the contest up for a third time on the day, 6-6, a little over a minute and a half into the second half.
A pair of goals by Julia Imbert gave the Knights a two lead, which
Mirthe Berends and Ziegler erased with consecutive unassisted tallies a minute apart to knot the game up at 8-8. The teams traded the next two goals, with Arcadia retaking the lead before E-town put it right back into a deadlock with Principe's second of the game.
The Knights would hold the Jays to just one goal over the final 18:47, which belonged to
Anna Charitonchick with 2:35 remaining in regulation. It was Charitonchick's first career goal.
Arcadia scored three over an 11-minute period of time to go ahead 12-9 before Charitonchick's goal cut the deficit to two with a few minutes to go. Elizabethtown had a few offensive opportunities to get closer, but the Knights' defense was able to hold and with 1:35 left, Madison Morabito scored on a free position to all but put the game away for the hosts.
Howell made a career-high 11 saves in the game for Elizabethtown. Veandra Selby also had 11 to get the win for Arcadia.
The women's lacrosse team will host Eastern on Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m.
