CHESTER, Pa. -- Jesse Sartor recorded her first career hat trick and
Hannah Cressman dished out four assists in her collegiate debut for the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team in a 14-7 loss at Widener.
Lexie Sharp and
Kate Ziegler each had two goals apiece for E-town in the team's season opener.
Elizabethtown (0-1) was down 5-0 until Sharp struck with 8:23 to go in the first half to get the first goal of the season. Cressman delivered the assist, the first of her career and one of four in the game. Sartor made it back-to-back goals for the Jays a few minutes later, also coming on Cressman's help.
Widener (1-1) closed out the first half with a pair of goals to answer E-town's and led 7-2 at halftime.
Cressman found Sharp to start the second half for the junior's second of the game to get the Blue Jays within four, 7-3, less than a minute and a half into the second.
The Pride added to its lead, tacking on three more goals to make it 10-3 before Ziegler had her first of the contest. The teams traded off the final eight goals of the game, including Ziegler's.
The junior added her second of the game five minutes after scoring her first, this time coming from Cressman after her first went unassisted. Sartor netted the final two goals of the game for E-town to get her hat trick.
Mirthe Berends registered an assist on Sartor's second of the game.
Caity Howell and
Jennifer Beihoff each played a half for Elizabethtown. Howell had three saves in the first while Beihoff made six saves during the second half.
The Blue Jays will play at Alvernia on Wednesday, February 26.
