ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College men's volleyball team won its eighth straight set match of the season, topping Neumann, 3-0, in Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) action Tuesday night.
With the wins, the Blue Jays improve to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in the CVC, while the Knights fall to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Freshman
Blake Hildebrand hit .423 and tallied a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs to pace Elizabethtown. Senior
Nick Baxter hit .400 with 10 kills and combined with freshman
Tony Camillo for nine total blocks. Freshman
Dan Barckholtz (23) and sophomore
Tim Zieber (11) combined for 34 assists.
Senior Ryan Bollinger and freshman Thomas McConnell each registered a team-high four kills for Neumann
ELIZABETHTOWN 3, NEUMANN 0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-14)
- SET ONE: Tied at four, the Blue Jays went on an 11-1 run capped off by a block from Barckholtz and freshman Cheston Jacobs, to take a 15-5 lead. The Knights crept back into the match and closed within four (17-13) after a kill from McConnell. Elizabethtown pushed its advantage back to six (21-15) after a kill from Baxter and road that wave to the 25-17 opening set victory.
- SET TWO: It was all Blue Jays at the start of the second as Elizabethtown scored the first 10 points of the set highlighted by a block by Camillo and Baxter for the 10th point. Neumann managed to close back within seven (18-11) after a block from sophomore John Hoopes, but the home team hit .296 in the set and never let the visitors threaten, scoring the 2-0 lead with the 25-17 win.
- SET THREE: It was a battle early in the final set as the Blue Jays only held a two point lead (12-10) early on. Elizabethtown, however, took control of the stanza, hitting .333 and finishing off the stanza with a 13-4 rally for the 25-14 victory and its first CVC win of the season.

Elizabethtown begins a seven match road trip this weekend, starting with Nazareth and D'Youville on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Blue Jays will take on the Golden Flyers at 12 p.m. followed by the Spartans at 2 p.m.
