ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team went through Wednesday's non-conference match with visiting Lebanon Valley unblemished. The Blue Jays won all three matches in doubles play and took all six singles matches as well to beat the Dutchmen 9-0 to remain unbeaten at the Alumni Courts.
Meghan Chemidlin and
Amber Burd moved their No. 2 doubles record to 5-0 on the season as they breezed through their match 8-1 with Lebanon Valley's (3-6) Rachel Duong and Meridyth Sanders. Elizabethtown (4-1) was off to a quick 1-0 lead.
Lenea Riehl and
Kailey Caroland finished off Melanie Haas and Emily Wilczek at No. 1 doubles 8-4 and
Laura Gribble and
Madelyn Binder made it 3-0 for the Jays after taking No. 3 doubles 8-6.
Caroland squared off with Duong at No. 2 singles and the freshman made short work of her LVC opponent 6-1, 6-0 to put E-town a point away from a match victory. Burd clinched it for the Blue Jays by blanking Sanders at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. The senior moved to 4-1 on the season at No. 4.
Chemidlin kept her unbeaten record in singles play intact with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Wilczek at No. 3 singles to move to 5-0 in 2018-19 and two matches closer to 100 for her career.
Riehl and
Madelyn Binder needed three sets in their matches, but both came out winners for Elizabethtown. Riehl won No. 1 singles 6-4, 0-6, 10-2 and Binder came back to get the win over Zoe Birch at No. 6 singles 1-6, 6-2, 10-4. Gribble made it 9-0 for the Jays at No. 5 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Elizabeth Drda.
E-town gets back into Landmark Conference play with matches at Susquehanna on Saturday, March 30, and at Juniata on Sunday, March 31.
