MAHWAH, N.J. -- A season-low hitting percentage at Ramapo didn't do the Elizabethtown College men's volleyball team any favors Wednesday night in Continental Volleyball Conference action at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners swept the Blue Jays by set scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-21.
It was only the fourth time this season that Elizabethtown (7-15, 1-5 CVC) was held below 20 total kills and the first time since February 24 when the Blue Jays had 14 at home against Rutgers-Newark. E-town finished Wednesday night with 17 kills. 13 of those came from
Nick Baxter.
Despite the subpar offensive performance, EC was still in two of the three sets as Ramapo (10-10, 4-3 CVC) didn't take full advantage of the struggling Jays' attack.
Elizabethtown had leads in the first and third sets early on, but the Roadrunners would eventually take over and hold off the Blue Jays.
Ramapo hit .520 with 15 kills and only two errors in the second set.
Tim Zieber had 16 assists on the night. Baxter, Zieber, and
Joey Nelson each had eight digs.
Ethan Maurer added seven and
Orion Lage had six. Baxter, Zieber, and
Kyle Murray all had service aces for the Blue Jays.
E-town plays at Immaculata on Saturday, March 16. They take on the Mighty Macs and Brooklyn at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
