ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team amassed 12 service aces and a .301 hitting percentage on its way to a 3-0 sweep of Alfred Saturday morning at the Blue Jay Classic.

Mackenzie Garner paced the Blue and Gray (6-6) with 11 kills and three blocks. Jenna Harne had four aces and Rileigh Hudock 26 assists.

Alfred, looking for its first win of the season, didn't help its chances with 20 attacking errors and a .000 hitting percentage. E-town used those miscues to pull away for uncontested victories in all three sets: 25-13, 25-12 and 25-16.

Garner struck for five kills and also had two block assists, while Sarah Schneider chipped in three kills in the opening set. It was much more of a committee approach in the second when the Jays had nine players combine for 14 blocks and hit a match-best .448.

With the Saxons' (0-11) offense struggling, there weren't a bevy of dig opportunities for E-town. Hudock, Schneider, Aiyana Tietze-Di Toro, Allison Fischer and Elle Shatto all shared the team lead with five.

Amber Smith accounted for 12 of Alfred's 20 kills in the match. Teammate Sarah Huzyk added 11 digs.

Elizabethtown concludes Blue Jay Classic play against Rowan later today at 3 p.m.
