Pysher named Landmark Men's Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete

2018 Landmark Conference Men's Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete

Matt Pysher ended his career as one of the Elizabethtown College men's track and field program's top throwers and, on Thursday, was named the Landmark Conference Men's Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete. He becomes the sixth student athlete from E-town to earn the honor from the league office.

Pysher, a team captain, had the best marks in all the throwing events for the Blue Jays between the indoor and outdoor seasons. He reached the podium in all six throws and was the 2018 Landmark Conference Indoor weight throw champion and 2018 Landmark Conference Outdoor hammer throw champion. He took fifth in the discus, sixth in the shot put (indoor and outdoor), and placed eighth in the javelin.

He finishes third all-time in the indoor shot put and second in the weight throw. Pysher threw a new PR in the weight throw this past indoor season at 14.66m. Outdoors, he graduates as the third-best shot putter and second all-time in the discus and hammer.

In the classroom, Pysher had a 3.75 GPA as a political science & legal studies major. He is a three-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. 

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
