Blue Jays suffer 99-81 road loss at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Michael Pastore netted 18 points to lead five Blue Jays in double figures, but it wasn't enough to offset a career-high 34 from Moravian junior guard Jimmy Murray in a 99-81 road loss, Saturday.

The Williamsport-bred Pastore jammed 13 of his 18 into the second half when the Blue Jays (4-16, 1-9 Landmark) outscored Moravian, 43-42.

Elizabethtown could not climb out of a 19-point hole at the half after uncharacteristically committing 15 turnovers in the first 20 minutes --nearly three more than its league-best 12.7 per game average.

Murray and the Greyhounds (15-6, 7-3) made the Jays pay for their first-half mistakes with a lopsided 18-4 advantage in points off turnovers.  Murray dropped in 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 3-of-3 from 3-point range.

The hosts shot it well all afternoon, converting more than 60 percent of their attempts in each half to finish at 60.9 percent (39-of-64). The Hounds also made 10 threes --led by Murray's 6-of-6 performance-- in their attempt to gain a stronghold on a Landmark Conference postseason spot.

Elizabethtown allowed a season-high 57 first-half points, but turned its offense up a notch in the second.

The Greyhounds' lead reach 25 in the second half, but a layup from Blue Jay freshman Liam Thompson with 8:54 remaining cut it to 14, 80-66.

Despite 18 second half buckets, E-town could never get it to single digits.

Pastore's team-leading 18 points were one off his career-high. Bryce Greene scored 15, Ethan DuBois 14 and Connor Moffatt had 12 and nine rebounds, narrowly missing his 11th double-double of the year.

Brandon Berry came off the bench to score 10 of his 12 points in the first half.

Murray was perfect from 3-point land and the charity stripe (4-of-4) while making 12-of-16 shots overall. Oneil Holder added 16 points and eight boards, Addis Ralph scored 12 points, Elijah Davis totaled 10 and Mike Martino handed out a game-high 10 assists for the Greyhounds.

Elizabethtown returns to its home floor Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest against Juniata.
