Blue Jays drop non-conference game at Wilson, 84-71

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Wilson's aggression on the glass was evident Tuesday evening.

The homestanding Phoenix outrebounded Elizabethtown by 14 and produced 22 second-chance points on their way to an 84-71 victory over the Blue Jays.

Bryce Greene followed his own miss with a layup just past the midway point of the first half to give E-town (4-6) a 14-13 lead, but it would be the Jays' only advantage of the evening.

Less than 30 seconds later, Wilson's Rashaan Bean grabbed RaeShaun Henderson's missed free throw and laid it in to put the Phoenix back in front for good.

The Jays attempted 17 3-pointers in the first half, but only two went down (11.8%). They also didn't take a free throw in the period, before going 7-of-12 over the final 20 minutes.

Greene scored a team-high 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting and also had eight rebounds. Junior teammate Connor Moffatt supplied his second straight double-double --and third of the season-- with 13 points and 10 boards.

Matt Thomas scored in double figures for the first time since a season-opening win over Penn State Berks, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds. Brandon Berry added 10 points in 26 minutes off the bench and Zach Nannen had a game-high seven assists.

Three Phoenix (4-9) starters finished in double figures led by Zachary Powell's 16 points. Keion Adams had 13 and 11 rebounds, while Bean totaled 13 and nine boards.

Wilson held a 46-32 advantage on the glass and was 23-of-34 (67.6%) at the charity stripe.

Elizabethtown will try to break a two-game losing streak on Sunday, Dec. 30, at John Jay.
