Landmark Championship moved to Sunday

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown and Catholic will have to wait a day to continue their championship pursuits.

The 2018 Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Championship game, originally set to take place Saturday evening, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.

Elizabethtown's natural grass Ira R. Herr Field absorbed nearly 1.5 inches of rain late Friday night and early Saturday morning, making the surface unsuitable for play. With no precipitation in the forecast for Saturday, the move to Sunday will allow Herr Field ample time to drain.

There is plenty at stake between the two hottest teams in the Landmark Conference, including the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship tournament. The top-seeded Blue Jays are unbeaten in 12 consecutive games (9-0-3) dating back to Sept. 15, while the second-seeded Cardinals have gone 7-0-1 in their last eight, with the lone tie coming against E-town last Saturday.

Elizabethtown, appearing in its fourth straight Landmark title game, is trying to capture its first conference championship since 2006 when they were still members of the MAC Commonwealth. Catholic is back in the Landmark championship game for the first time since 2014, when they won it.

Tickets for Sunday's championship matchup can be purchased at the main entrance to Ira R. Herr Field on game day. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children (ages 10-17), non-Landmark students (with ID) and seniors, and FREE for children under 10 and Landmark students/faculty/staff (with ID).

The game will be carried live in HD on BlueJaysTV at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/etown.
