TOWSON, Md. -- Senior forward
Gilbert Waso became the 12th player in Elizabethtown College men's soccer program history to score 100 career points and registered the game-winning goal against Scranton in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays. Waso received Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Waso broke out with a six-point performance in a 5-1 win over Penn State Berks last Wednesday, collecting two goals and two assists. He reached the century mark in career points with a penalty kick goal in the 81st minute. Waso is the first Blue Jay to achieve the milestone since Chris Helsel in 1998.
Waso's goal in the 31st minute on Saturday at Scranton helped the Jays to a 2-0 win as they extended their unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2) and moved to the top of the Landmark standings. He moved into 10th-place on E-town's career scoring list (103 pts.) with his 12th career game-winning goal.
