Blue Jays get first conference win at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. -- Bryce Greene topped the 20-point mark for the seventh time this season, tying his career high for the third time with 27 points and Elizabethtown snapped a seven-game slide with an 82-70 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher Saturday afternoon.

All 15 of Greene's points in the first half came via the long ball, as he accounted for five of the Blue Jays' nine threes. Michael Pastore had 12 points and Elizabethtown (4-12, 1-5 Landmark) led at the break (42-40) for the fourth time in its last five games.

E-town started the second by quickly adding to its lead. Greene popped in six points and Connor Moffatt four during a 15-6 Blue Jay run over the first 7:18 that made it 57-46.

Moffatt returned from a one-game absence to score nine points in the second half and total 15 points and 16 rebounds for his conference-best 10th double-double of the season.

After extending its advantage to double figures, Elizabethtown kept it there for most of the second half. Goucher (0-16, 0-6) got as close as seven on Dwyane Morton's 3-pointer with 4:09 to play, but Jamil Pines-Elliott immediately responded with a three of his own as the Jays scored six straight to push the lead to 13, 78-65.

E-town launched 28 3-pointers in the game, making 12 (42.9%). It's the fifth game in a row that the Jays have attempted 20 or more and 13th time this season.

Pastore had 15 points and was 4-of-7 at the charity stripe. E-town attempted a season-high 32 free throws in the contest. Josh Christ and Ethan DuBois each had seven points and Matt Thomas recorded six points.

Morton had a team-high 21 points for the winless Gophers, making 8-of-14 shots on the afternoon. Elliott Wiley added 16 and Jacob Smith had 10 boards and nine points.

Elizabethtown concludes a string of three straight games away from Thompson Gymnasium Wednesday at 7 p.m. when it travels to Juniata.
