Women's lacrosse drops regular season finale at #14 Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team already had a playoff spot ensured going into Saturday's Landmark Conference showdown with No. 14 Catholic. A home playoff game was on the line for E-town, who fell 18-6 to the Cardinals and will now enter the postseason as the third seed in the Landmark.

It was clear Catholic (11-4, 6-0 Landmark) did not want to waste any time in Saturday's matchup. The Cardinals scored three goals in the first five minutes to jump on top of Elizabethtown (11-4, 4-2 Landmark) 3-0.

The Jays had a tough time getting the attack going. E-town's first shot of the game from Allison McLamb was saved by Cardinals' goalie Nanci Hernandez.

In a 7-0 hole, Julia Ferrante got the Blue Jays on the board with a man-up goal, assisted by Addie Stang, to cut it to 7-1.

Stang provided her second assist of the game nearly two minutes later on Dana Robidoux's goal. Madelyn Baker scored Elizabethtown's third goal with 20 seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, Stang scored two of the three goals for the Blue Jays. McLamb picked up the other one with 1:27 left from a pass from Robidoux.

Stang had a team-high four points (2g, 2a) while Ferrante had five ground balls to lead EC. Abby Kopytko made six saves in 40:29. Jennifer Beihoff played the final 19:31 and made one stop.

Elizabethtown will travel to second-seeded Scranton on Wednesday, May 3, for a Landmark Conference semifinal matchup. The time has yet to be determined.
