Albright stuns women's lacrosse in overtime

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Albright scored the final seven goals of Saturday's non-conference matchup with the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team, including the game-winner in overtime as the Lions came back from a 6-0 deficit in the first half to stun the Blue Jays in OT.

Addie Stang scored her ninth and tenth goals at 27:34 and 24:05 and Elizabethtown (2-1) was in control from the start. Dana Robidoux scored twice over the next eight minutes and Allison McLamb and Katie Thompson pushed the score to 6-0 with 9:56 to go in the first half.

Albright (3-1) got two back, but Robidoux completed her first-half hat trick with an unassisted marker with 57 ticks left before the halftime buzzer sounded and E-town took a 7-2 lead into the break.

Sophie Bass and Patricia Horgan brought the Lions within 7-4, but McLamb scored her seventh of the season to break up the Albright streak.

The Blue Jays got the edge back up to six, 11-5, on McLamb's third of the game, but from there it was all Albright.

Down two with a minute left, Mariah Cullen scored from a free position attempt, which was also a man-up goal. Albright was down one with 57 seconds to go. E-town took the draw control and looked to run out the clock, but the Lions swarmed the ball and generated a turnover and went the other way.

Horgan went toward the goal and Kelly Baumann finished off the play with a goal with only three seconds showing to force overtime.

26 seconds into overtime, Albright capitalized one last time as Baumann maneuvered around the right side of the goal and was able to score low to complete the Lions' comeback.

Abby Kopytko made six saves in goal for E-town, while Hayley Joyce also had six saves to get the win for Albright.

Stang, Robidoux, and McLamb all had hat tricks for the Blue Jays. Katie Thompson added a pair. Stang also had two assists.

The women's lacrosse team will look to bounce back next Saturday, March 11 at Washington & Jefferson.
