Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Katie Thompson 17th player to 100 points, Blue Jays roll

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Two days after twin sister Carly became the newest member of Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse's 100-point club, Katie Thompson joined her. Thompson led the way with six points on three goals and three assists in the Blue Jays' 16-5 victory over Eastern Wednesday afternoon at Wolf Field.

Elizabethtown wasted no time asserting itself against the one-win Eagles.

Senior Addie Stang won the opening draw control and took off down the middle of the field unabated, before scoring the quickest recorded goal to start a game in program history just nine seconds in. Jen Manns previously held the record of 11 seconds, set all the way back in 2003, against King's (Pa.).

The Blue Jays' offensive onslaught continued with two goals apiece by Stang, Dana Robidoux and Katie Thompson, along with one from Carly Thompson during a 7-0 run over the first 14:08 of play.

Liz Brennan eventually broke through for Eastern (1-7) at 14:07, but her goal was followed by five more from the hosts to end the half.

Carly Thompson scored twice during that stretch, completing a hat trick with 21 seconds left in the half. Madelyn Baker, Megan DeMichele and Julia Ferrante also scored for Elizabethtown (7-1), which matched its best eight-game start in school history with Wednesday's win.

The Blue Jays can equal the best nine-game start in program history (8-1) with a victory over Landmark foe Goucher on Saturday.

Less than six minutes into the second half, Katie Thompson recorded career point No. 100, scoring off a feed from Carly to give both Thompson twins hat tricks on the afternoon. Katie is the 17th player in school history to achieve the career feat.

Robidoux joined in on the hat trick fun with her third of the day at 17:00, sandwiching the goal between a pair from Allison McLamb.

McLamb produced another outstanding all-around game with game-highs of seven ground balls and four caused turnovers to go along with three draw controls and two goals. The senior from Ellicott City, Maryland, had as many caused turnovers as the entire Eastern team.

Elizabethtown outshot the Eagles by a commanding 31-9 margin and cleared at an 85.7 percent rate (12 of 14). The Blue Jays owned a 16-5 advantage in draw controls, led by Katie Thompson's seven.

Eastern cut into the Blue Jays' 14-goal lead late, scoring the final three goals. Liz Brennan and Anna Charlebois scored twice for the Eagles and Alina Odjemski stopped 11 shots in goal.

Abby Kopytko only faced three shots before halftime for the Blue and Gray. Backup goalies Jennifer Beihoff and Caity Howell split second half duties, with both making one save.

The Blue Jays and Goucher meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Wolf Field. Prior to the game, Elizabethtown will honors its 2017 seniors.
