Thompson reaches 100 career points as E-town extends win streak to four

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- It was a day Carly Thompson won't soon forget for the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team. Thompson hit the century mark in career points after coming into Monday's make-up game against Alvernia just four points shy. She provided a third of E-town's offense as the Blue Jays won handily 18-8 over the Crusaders to extend the team's win streak to four.

Thompson recorded a goal and an assist through the first half of the opening 30 minutes for Elizabethtown (6-1). Still a closely contested game, E-town led 4-3 at that point. After Abby McCarthy scored for Alvernia (4-3) with 16:13 on the clock, the Jays ran away with the game to end the half.

Elizabethtown outscored the Crusaders 7-1 over the final 16 minutes to take a commanding 11-4 lead into the break. Abby Kopytko made eight saves in the first half and finished with 10 in the game.

Addie Stang, Katie Thompson, and Carly Thompson each scored for EC to open the second half. Though, Alvernia cut the deficit to six, 14-8, by rattling off four in a row over a seven and a half minute span.

Led by Carly Thompson, E-town responded with four of their own. Carly Thompson posted two of those four goals and the defense did not allow another goal to Alvernia in the final 13 minutes of the game.

Katie Thompson had four goals and two assists to move within four points of reaching 100 for her career. Stang and Allison McLamb both had hat tricks for Elizabethtown.

The women's lacrosse team will host Eastern on Wednesday, March 29 at 4 p.m.
