Quick start sees women's lacrosse roll past Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- Eight different goal scorers accounted for the Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team's goal in a 20-4 non-conference win at Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday. Carly Thompson, Katie Thompson, and Addie Stang combined for 12 goals while Allison McLamb also recorded a hat trick for the Blue Jays. All three goalies saw playing time as well for E-town.

McLamb lined up for the opening draw control and won it. Elizabethtown (2-0) went down the field and on the first shot of the game, Carly Thompson netted her sixth goal of the season off a pass from her sister, Katie Thompson. K. Thompson won the ensuing draw control and E-town went right back down the field. This time she fed Stang for her fifth tally of the year.

Julia Ferrante, Stang (2), K. Thompson, and McLamb made it seven consecutive goals to open the game for the Jays. They led 7-0 a little over five minutes into Wednesday evening's contest.

Aubrey Cook broke up the scoring streak with her second of the season for Gwynedd Mercy (0-2) to make it 7-1.

Elizabethtown scored another nine in a row to take a commanding 16-1 lead into the final four minutes of the first half. Cook scored her second of the game with 1:52 left before halftime, but C. Thompson registered her fourth of the half with 11 ticks on the clock and E-town took a 17-2 lead into intermission.

The Blue Jays struck first in the second half as Stang found Jesse Sartor for her first career goal. Ten minutes later, Rachel Reed recorded her first of the season. Mirthe Berends capped off Elizabethtown's scoring in the game with the first of her career.
